چکیده
Wastewater treatment plants have been traditionally developed for the aerobic degradation of effluent organic matter, and are associated with high energy consumption. The adoption sustainable development targets favors utilization every available source, current work aims at identification biomethane potential from non-conventional sources derived municipal wastewater processes. Byproducts primary process stage were collected four sewage in Greece great variation design capacity servicing areas wide human activities, affecting quality influents corresponding wastes. samples characterized determination their solids fats content, as well concentration leached matter nutrients, subjected to anaerobic digestion measurement production according standardized procedures. All exhibited biogas utilization, screenings a plant receiving an area combined rural agro-industrial activities presenting highest potential. Nevertheless, these had methanogens doubling time around 1.3 days, while high-capacity unit proved less than 1 day. On other hand, floatings grit chambers presented smallest utilization. wastes can be utilized production, potentially secondary sludge co-digestion units, converting demanding zero or even power process.

Pollution potential and ecological risk of heavy metals in municipal wastewater treatment plants sludge
Background and Objective: Application of sewage sludge contaminated with heavy metals may cause health and ecological concern. Ecological risk and heavy metals content of sewage sludge from wastewater treatment plants of East Azerbaijan province were evaluated in the present study. Materials and Methods: Nine composite samples were taken and analyzed for heavy metals. The geo-accumulation inde...
متن کاملRecovery of volatile fatty acids from fermentation of sewage sludge in municipal wastewater treatment plants.
This work investigated the pilot scale production of short chain fatty acids (SCFAs) from sewage sludge through alkaline fermentation and the subsequent membrane filtration. Furthermore, the impact of the fermentation liquid on nutrient bioremoval was examined. The addition of wollastonite in the fermenter to buffer the pH affected the composition of the carbon source produced during fermentati...
متن کاملRole of Primary Sludge Hydrolysis in Energy Recovery from Municipal Wastewater Sludge
Laboratory experiments supported by full-scale operational observations have been utilized to assess the possible yield of methane-rich biogas via decomposition of COD and volatile fatty acids (VFAs) from organic matter trapped and settled in a municipal wastewater treatment plant. The impact of operational conditions (mainly solids' retention time) on VFAs and methane-rich gas generation was e...
متن کاملChemically assisted primary treatment of municipal wastewater
The objective of this work is studying the use of chemicals to enhance primary treatment in municipal wastewater treatment plants, thereby reducing the cost of the secondary treatment stage. Jar tests using chemicals, polymers and sea water have been conducted to determine the best performing chemicals, alone and in combinations. The process performance parameters studied were pH, type and dosa...
متن کاملDistribution of antidepressant residues in wastewater and biosolids following different treatment processes by municipal wastewater treatment plants in Canada.
The fate of 14 antidepressants along with their respective N-desmethyl metabolites and the anticonvulsive drug carbamazepine (CBZ) was studied in 5 different sewage treatment plants (STPs) across Canada. Using two validated LC-MS/MS analytical methods, the concentrations of the different compounds were determined in raw influent, final effluent and treated biosolids samples. Out of the 15 compo...
